Research - Request Access to Data
|
Access to NT-SDF data is granted under strict supervision based on the submission and acceptance of a project proposal. Access to the NT-SDF is available to researchers and policymakers. Proposals are evaluated based on feasibility, policy relevance, and alignment with NT-SDF Output Rules. All research must be conducted physically at the secure data facility in Pretoria; remote access to the data is not available. |

Access is through two main pathways: |

- Projects that align with the objectives of the Southern Africa – Towards Inclusive Economic Development (SA-TIED) programme can apply through the Request for Research Proposals (RFRP) process. Successful proposals receive funding and can make use of the available NT-SDF datasets for their project.
- Researchers may also apply for access through either an Independent Research Proposal or a Policy Proposal. Researchers who are not affiliated with government departments or agencies should apply through the Independent Research Proposal Form. Research commissioned by, led by, or conducted in partnership with government departments, agencies, or other public sector institutions should be submitted through the Policy Proposal Form. Only proposals submitted through the appropriate NT-SDF proposal form below will be evaluated.
