The National Treasury Secure Data Facility (NT-SDF) makes a range of administrative tax data available to researchers across South Africa and globally. This includes firm- and individual-level data in panel format.
The de-identified tax data available at the NT-SDF includes our core datasets such as the Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Employee Income Payroll certificates (IRP5), Personal Income Tax (PIT), Customs, and Value Added Tax (VAT) datasets. These datasets are linked to specific SARS forms that generate the data. Below is a comprehensive list of the datasets housed at the NT-SDF. |

This folder contains the SARS forms that serve as the foundation for the core datasets mentioned above. In this folder we provide you with the SARS forms which create the core datasets above. Please note that not every dataset has a corresponding form, and some forms may be outdated. SARS publishes the latest forms here. Please see the Metadata and Dummy Data sections for more information on the contents of the datasets.
*All research papers using the data at the NT-SDF should include a data appendix and correctly cite the datasets. Guidelines for compiling a data appendix and citing the tax data can be found here
