7.4 Review the Sourcing Strategy
Reviews play a crucial role in the procurement process, serving as a mechanism to enhance procurement management and uphold public accountability. These evaluations, conducted by the cross-functional sourcing team, provide an honest and independent appraisal of the procurement, contract delivery, and achieved outcomes.

Recognising the dynamic nature of the procurement environment, regular reviews are essential to ensure an ever-adaptable sourcing strategy. Encompassing all stages of the sourcing process, the review process aims to check and improve future execution, incorporating lessons learned and mechanisms for enhancement. Beyond evaluating anticipated benefits, reviews communicate the value of procurement to the responsible Minister and the South African taxpayer. Successful implementation of review recommendations is integral for fostering a 'learning organisation' and facilitating continuous improvement opportunities within the procuring institution.
