Description
The team must obtain information on existing sourcing practices, plans and contracts, and find out from stakeholders what they need in terms of functionality, quality, volumes, and other issues. They must identify opportunities to reduce costs and carry out an initial risk analysis.
The objective of this exercise is to obtain an overall view of the business impact that the commodity has on the organisation. A complete business needs assessment based on previous history and future requirements must be done. It also involves the review of existing specifications or developing new specifications.
