About Us
BRICS is an acronym for the grouping of some of the world’s leading emerging economies, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The BRICS Mechanism aims to achieve peace, security, development and cooperation.
It also aims at contributing significantly to the development of humanity and establishing a more equitable world order. BRICS is not a substitute for the work that inevitably has to be done at a bilateral level between these countries.
However, by creating a mechanism for more frequent dialogue on issues of mutual interest, BRICS presents a platform for South Africa to develop instruments that advance its domestic, regional and global objectives.
